BYU Global Supply Chain Management

I turn complex operations into clear, actionable systems.

I’m Yitong “Toby” Zheng—a procurement-focused supply chain student combining cost analysis, supplier development, and practical AI fluency to help teams make better decisions, faster.

01 / About

Business judgment, strengthened by technical curiosity.

I’m a Global Supply Chain Management student at Brigham Young University with the junior core completed and a clear goal: build a career in procurement or supply chain consulting.

Growing up in China and studying in the United States has taught me to listen closely, adapt quickly, and see business decisions from more than one perspective. At Caterpillar’s China R&D Center in Wuxi, I applied that mindset to should-cost analysis, supplier risk, inspection digitization, and inventory controls.

I’m equally interested in how AI can make good operators better. I design practical AI workflows, experiment with new tools, and built a bilingual scripture-learning product. I learn fastest by building, seeking candid feedback, and finding mentors who challenge how I think.

Beyond work and school: I enjoy trying new sports, traveling to new places, and learning about cultures through their food.

02 / Experience

Evidence over adjectives.

Work across procurement, operations, mentoring, and early-stage strategy—connected by a bias toward structured problem-solving.

Scripture Primer

A bilingual learning product that helps readers understand scripture stories before approaching the full text.

Problem
Long, unfamiliar texts can create a high barrier for new readers who lack the story context needed to orient themselves.
Approach
Used Claude Code, Supabase, and Vercel to build short story primers, chronological navigation, quizzes, flashcards, character references, reading tools, and search in Chinese and English.
Result
Went from starting with little familiarity with scripture stories to preparing to teach and share them during missionary service. I now share the live product with friends and religion professors for learning and feedback.
